It always delivers

It’s a beautiful Saturday morning and the calendar is finally empty . What do we do ? The surfs too small , but there’s other stuff we can do . I declare that a bike ride would be good , today we’l see something and there’l be a storey to tell. We are just 300 m from the famous strand , a beach path stretching from Palos Verdes to the Venice beach break wall . Emma , Leroy and myself do it .The exercise , the view , the salt air …. the people . You’l always see someone, especially approaching summer . We head north a mile passing Manhattan Beach pier We then glide past a procession of mega mansions on a slight decline down to Elporto ( La’s most consistent surf stretch) .At this stage Leroy wants to call it quits and stops but we declare that 15 minutes isn’t a proper bike ride and we’l take him to the airport to see planes taking off over the water and stop to get him pancakes . We ride on ,passing the Chevron oil refinery and finally making to within sight of Venice Beach and Santa Monica . We’ve gone close to 10 ks and now we’ve gotta cajole and milk all the encouragement into Leroy , as reckons we should get an uber back . He reckons seen the planes and the beach enough and we shouldn’t be riding back . We head back past the 1st cafe and Leroy parks his bike . We drag him back onto the bike and talk him into riding to the Elporto cafe . He’s not happy , says he’s starving and his legs are dying . Eventually we get to this famous little beach cafe on the sand at Elporto .At last we are sitting down under beach umbrellas, dazing at the surfers , beach bodies and …… celebrity ! As Leroy does his little floss dance to the music piping overhead ,a bike rider has to step aside with his coffee to pass by . He smiles and it’s then we realise it’s ..Harrison Ford ! Yep , I told you we would have a story to tell . Fuck the bike ride , we had brekkie next to Harrison Ford ! Hey , I told you the Strand always delivers . You’l always see something or someone . We told Leroy that the guy in grey behind him was Harrison Ford . He didn’t care . I told him he was Han Solo and acts alongside Chewbaccer in Star Wars .He still didn’t care .
