The days are beautiful , but the sun sets early at this time of year . Shorts and light clothing are the go , but a thin jacket comes in handy . We are still 4 weeks from the 1st day of winter and strangely enough the shortest day of the year. Once winter officially starts ,every day from that point grows longer . Today at 4.44 pm the sun set over the ocean , leaving its customary pink brilliance in its wake .For the next month or more the sun will have sunk below the horizon well before 5 o clock . The weather will change momentarily, bringing rain and 16 degrees on Thursday ,but will quickly revert back to normal transmission.
It feels stupid saying it , but it’s time to think hibernation , sitting in front of the tv before 6 pm and looking for sports and news . This year will be different ; no escape to Australia for Christmas and the 1st time we will be solo through the festive period . On the back of living the dream by holidaying in Cabo , Mexico , the early cool nights of December are a reality check . It’s time to grind away and accept the weather is still pretty bloody good ,
but shit a couple of weeks in Aus in late December sure would be nice .

Cancun
Think surfers paradise , the Goldcoast, and you’re nearly there , but not quite .
Multi storey hotels that back directly onto white Caribbean sand . It’s sounds exotic .
It is . If you look carefully where ever you go you see that things are different . Here? It’s the clouds , the sound , the horizon, everything . I can’t put my finger on it , but occasionally you see a well worn traveller pass by with their brown leather body , a wiry frame and you just know that they’ve seen it all . Yeah it’s Mexican , South American and even Jamaican but you know it’s real when you see these types . I think they’re living your dream ; no belongings , little possessions but a wealth in memories and experience . They’re doing what you’d always dreamed of , but have been to scared to .Still , I get to go home , with a family and a heap of photos to validate our memories . There are pros and cons about this place , like everywhere . Kids with blonde hair and being obviously anglo was like a beacon to any tout wanting to sell us something , that became relentless and almost overly aggressive. At times you’d exit a bus and the yelling and waving from desperate men wanting to sell us tours and wares of any type became borderline too much . It’s something the authorities need to curb , but I’m not sure they’d want to . Once they realise you’re a yank or a westerner you’re fair game . The obvious envy from these ‘sellers ‘ is borderline contemptuous . I know you can get this sense in South East Asia but there’s still an underlying current of extreme corruption that lets you know that every thing is expendable in Mexico . Just before we got here they found 11bodies , just inland from Cancun . I’m sorry that sounded so dark , buts it’s only a fleeting sense that things are not perfect The pros?. There’s a lot of humour .. , the Mexicans like to laugh , a lot of things are lost in translation . I had great joy in accentuating my Aussie accent to its fullest , it was often met with confusion but it also got a laugh out of both boys and just an occasional roll of the eyes from Emma . I thought I was fuckn hilarious .
The bus drivers here are formula one standard , driving flat out and with no concern wether you’d taken your seat . Crossing the roads was fraught with danger as the traffic rarely slowed for you at pedestrian crossings . I was left scratching my head at the painted yellow lines , they must be for tourists and something the locals never use . . The food here was hit and miss and a little unrefined but eventually we took the sensible route and veered towards Mexican food . The vibe , the beaches , resorts ,
margaritas , $1 coronas ( yes , just $1! ) , fish and shrimp tacos ( like nothing we’ve ever tasted in Aus ) , the flesh ( yes I love Hispanic derrière and the bravado that comes with it , Tex does too ) , tropical heat and exotic fora and flora ,
and of course the theme parks as well … Cancun , it sounds glamorous, it is … . It’s trashy too , and obviously all about the tourist dollar .Would I come back ? ….. if friends with kids threw the idea up … yes .I’d love to do it again and hit the parks . I’d also have liked to have had more time to go out to the Island of Mujeres ,head down to the ancient ruins and swim in exotic caves ,but there’s only so much you can drag your kids along to and not to mention your hip pocket . Mexico .. tick that box .
But if there’s another Mexican trip ,it has to be Cabo , San Lucas .
Xcaret
Never heard of it have you ? Xel ha , Xnotes ,Xplor are others . An hour north of Cancun lies Coastline rich with emerald waterways and dense jungle and ancient ruins , but not for long . Adventure parks are springing up all long this piece of coastline . With that comes total commercialism . Today we headed to xcaret . These parks aren’t cheap at around $140 a head , but what they have is nearly everything . Yesterday was a nearly 16 hour day ; starting with pickup at 730 am and eventually drop off at11pm . Like Xel ha you’ve got to be ready to expose your wears . It’s swimsuits ,booties or thongs ( flip flops over here ) and sunscreen . There’s acres of flesh on show , both good and ..,..ah well .., . With the temperature at around 28 Celsius and humidity up in the 70s it’s sweat , sunscreen and chafing for the next 10 hours , as well as constant wet feet and salt water drying on the body . Yesterday I walked 22000 steps in the park alone .
The day started with a kilometre long lazy river through manmade and natural caves . We had flippers and life vests on helping us propel through uncomfortable masses of people . I had to carry Leroy the whole way as he was cold and a bit overwhelmed by the crowded water .
The current cajoled us through tropical jungle , exotic macaws ,toucans and some beautiful rock formations. It took us 40 minutes to get to the end .
Tex and I then hustled to get to our jet boat booking . This was an extra cost of $59 a head . 360 rolls , high speed lift off and submersions ( breaking hard forcing the boat to dive nose 1st submarine style ) were next . The whole experience was compared in Spanish . There are moments when walking around you become self conscious . You’re in swimsuits and nothing else ; any type of accessory is a problem . It has to be carried or it could disappear, even sunglasses , although as the day went on it felt less likely . It feels as if you’re near naked , dripping wet and uncouth . The staff are all dressed and at times they surely must be thinking ” what the fuck are these people doing ? It does feel like the hispanics are more comfortable in showing off their bodies , and really this is how it should be . Eating in the restaurant in your g banger is no big deal , just cover it up in see through mesh , that way you don’t draw attention to it ….. I think ? Emma and Leroy swam with dolphins and had a ball , that
was another extra cost of US $70 a head . The cost is building . We had an authentic Mexican all you can eat buffet washed down with a huge margarita. Did I tell you I love margaritas? I love’m . Butterfly enclosures , rainforests , waterfalls , aquariums , snorkelling , arts , horse shows , para sailing , jet skiing , swimming with rays and sharks and more …. were all to be experienced . On a side note I did feel that the enclosure of wild animals for our entertainment was slightly disturbing. I know I can’t talk as a westerner as we’ve exploited this area before but you really get a sense that we are in a developing country that has a bit of a ‘Wild West ‘ approach . Emma and I would often laugh at the lapse safety and the potential for ‘real problems ‘ that back in Australia would quickly be hosed down . The last 2 hours was spent watching a large Mexican style stage show in a massive open air amphitheater.
We were seated and fed 7 courses while the show went on and on and on .
No really the 1st 90 minuted were really entertaining , but after a long sweaty day and 7 courses of very good food we were literally stuffed . The Mexicans don’t do it by half and Xcaret has sat me on my arse today . I think it’s time to lay around the pool , rub my expanded girth and think about that 1st beer . I’ve just put a pair of old board shorts on that never fitted me , but hey welcome back big boys you’re now nice and snug . I’d say midday should start it all off again .
Cheers Excaret , that was another big day that the Howies from down under have conquered.
Tulum/Xelha
620 wake up .
We’ve got a big day ahead . 630 room service , 720 collection at the lobby of the Marriot . Add to this we’ve lost 3 hours to LA time and only one days recovery after travelling 12 hours + . Yep , I know it , I can’t whinge as this is what you do on Holliday . 1st stop , Tulum . A 2 hour drive by 2 coaches . It’s a military operation , we are dropped off at a rendezvous point and then herded into groups for our specific tours . Hundreds , into the thousands of people , a dozen busses and a melting pot of races . I’m pretty sure we were the loan Aussies , the majority were Hispanic , a scattering of anglos and a surprising volume of Asian . After a freezing ( aircon pumping ) trip to Tulum we were hit between the eyes with a thick rancid heat . The ancient ruins of the Myahs was the attraction . I’ve got to admit it but this stuff doesn’t interest me too much. Emma , on advice from a work colleague suggested we walk the half mile to the famous Tulum beach . This is a post card location, apparently. I wasn’t overly impressed . An onshore wind , combined with a low tide had turned the waters into a green chop with an accompanying stench of rotting seaweed .
I can still see the charm as it hadn’t been commercialised with shiny resorts but it did have ramshackle bars and weathered old touts looking to hook us into some tour , but no , not today mate . After an hour we are back in the main village , checking out all the South American touristy stalls .
With embarrassment I admit we didn’t see the ruins , 90 minutes wasn’t enough time to see everything. Ok I’m not that cultural , that’s why the second location had me excited .
This is a theme park that has a bit of everything , and the thing I like about it is it hasn’t been chained to political correctness . When you can go cliff jumping , snorkelling with dolphins and stingrays , rope jumping , zip lining and water sliding with unlimited alcohol and food this joint gets my vote . Did I say unlimited , that includes cocktails , crazy . Strap yourselves in kiddies you’re gonna have to , cause mum and dad are relying on you guys staying afloat . Once you get in this joint you realise you leave your dignity at the door . It’s bathers and reef shoes and not much else , you’re bikini line better be waxed and your beer gut can’t be sucked in all day . Everyone’s gonna see everyone today , only alternative is to sit at the bar and get hammered , but that would be a travesty when you see the emerald green waters and tropical background out of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie .
If you don’t have pockets in your bathers your carrying stuff , and that’s pretty hard when there’s snorkelling and a heap of water sports to contend with . It’s time to show the body wether you like it or not , and by gee there’s some Hispanic girls who are loud and proud about showing their derrière , god bless ‘m . No phones unless they’re waterproof, so that was a bummer , as there is some amazing photos to be taken and that’s not including the bu.. , ah anyway . 6 hours , 18000 steps , only 4 margaritas, caves , cliffs ,with a customary Aussie bomb thrown in ( broke the the crutch strap on the life vest and knackered my self ) ,zip lines , massive slides , reef fish and more .
At a $125 US a head today was a pretty special day . Yeah it was a bit crass , the body was constantly wet and the feet were squelching in reef shoes for hours , it’s basic and a bit loose on safety and responsibility but I like that .
You use your brain , take some calculated risks , have a lotta fun and watch the kids buzz . Hay this is pretty special , we are in Cancun , Mexico and are living a big life at the moment . The location , the beauty , the flesh , the fun and the grog ……. if you could’ve only been here
Transit Mexico
We flew out from LAX to Mexico City , on route to a Cancun . Yes , Cancún the place you see all those reality shows on the hot American kids partying up on spring vacation . The fly in to Mexico City had me excited . A flight of around 3 hours . It’s a high altitude city and the most populated in North America . An aisle seat would make it difficult seeing out the window but when you’re seated in the very back of a Delta flight there’s no windows anyway , that drew disappointment from Emma and the kids . As an early booking and requesting for seats closer to the front Emma had immediately logged her grievances and would be complaining later . On top of that the majority of people had their windows covered. Ha? Is it just me but don’t you find it fascinating flying into new locations ?From the pictures I’d seen on Mexico it is surrounded by tall snow capped mountains and is a densely packed colourful city . The descent should’ve been eye popping and a photo or two would’ve come up in this blog, but not to be . Customs was uneventful ,and the airport itself was comparable to LAX . It was reasonably modern and even had tilt slab panels and caulking . Weird , down here but no so in LA? Ah ,but when your this far south of the US the thought that English would be spoken or at least partially understood is a naivety . Emma had gone looking for food and come back with junk , as she found it difficult in finding any hot food . I will say that the Doritos she brought were different in taste than their US and Aus counterparts and were the best that I’d tasted . The two flight attendants did tell me that they wish they could get out of the airport because things just tasted better in Mexico City . When I decided to find something I settled on Subway ( not real fond of it normally) . When I went to order I knew I was in trouble . I spoke and she looked in shock . I pointed and she still didn’t understand . I motioned that I wanted exactly what the guy before wanted but still nothing . Shit this is awkward . I look over my shoulder and there’s at least 6 people waiting and they’re not impressed . From 3 deep a guy stepped in and rescued me by translating my request . I pay and have to sign the receipt. I can’t read what I’ve paid for and what the exchange is but I copy on the total what I see on the receipt and then tip by putting a US dollar note in the jar . You get paranoid that little things like not signing properly and keeping the total and tip open on the receipt could all of a sudden start draining your bank account . Yep , I’m a typical suspicious westerner , but every Mexican so far has been honest and helpful . The subway roll ? A Parmesan bread with teriyaki chicken , American cheese and herbed mayonnaise tasted weird at best . That was definitely not what I ordered but it did the job . Finally we fly out and onto Cancún. I got a brief view of awesome snow capped mountains and the mass of the teaming Mexico but it was fleeting as the people next to me were sleeping against the window . We’ve arrived now . The airport was modern and yes there was plenty of quality caulking . At night it felt very Queensland , shiny sandstone tiles , glossy aluminium flashing , manicured gardens and very clean . Today is the beginning of our Cancún Holliday. I’ll show you more soon but check out the view this morning
Unlikely , I think ?
I told you Tim , “He’s a handful.” You know he really likes you . He’s thinking of looking into ancestry.com . Why ? Cause he thinks you’re that much like him that maybe you are related . Remember he did live in Australia … maybe …. just maybe ? Like I’ve been thinking , he was an athlete much like yourself . He’s still strong and regularly works out , not unlike the CrossFit style that you love .
He told me that you remind him of himself . You’ve only left an hour ago and are not even at the airport and he’s talking about your next meeting . He even thinks he might come out to visit you once you send him some cash whilst he awaits his divorce settlement. ” Howie , you’ll have to give me his address “, Marcus asked .”Hang on Mate he’s still wiping off the food you spat all over him whilst we had lunch “. I replied .He laughed and says ” You’re so fucking funny you Aussies . “Nah mate just telling it like it is .” I’m telling you bad grandpa from Jackass is modelled on Marcus .He nearly shed a tear when he talked about his great Aussie mate Tim . Yep I can see that special bond
I was a little worried when you were at his place for an hour . Geezus Tim what was happening up there? You sure that sleeping pill is what he says it is . Remember it’s blue , like his viagra , Prozac , Valium and blood thinning tablets …. Just saying ? The business idea of bringing Aussie kids out to the US to try out at GridIron has merit . Marcus says if you can talent spot , finance and organise everything he’l take an 80% cut and you can split the rest with your contacts. It’s only fair . Now Tim , you can now validate every story I’ve told so far …. Marcus he’s bigger than life . …….Fuck you two look good together . Actually come back and take him with you ……. Just tell him not to smoke dope in your house and in your car and at CrossFit with you , and Teddy loves you . Go on mate ya know he loves you like his own son …. please. It’d be funny and it would give us a bit of a break . Please
LA lights
We are on board the Tim train again . Tonight it’ll be the NBA , the Clippers v Golden State Warriors. In what would be the only setback for the night; there’ll be no Steph Curry , due to injury . Emma got the tickets and Tim does all the chaperone work . Perfect . The approaching drive at dusk sets the scene perfectly.
Downtown during the day is pretty uninspiring , but at night it transforms . We get in early so as Tim can capture the jungle on dusk , and it doesn’t disappoint. I can’t wait to see how some of the photos come up . Sitting on overpasses watching a sea of lights streaking down freeways with the lit up backdrop of the LA skyline , awesome
Leroy and I wait as Tim risks life and limb crossing major intersections ,setting up on sweeping bends with no footpath and only two feet of curb between him and oncoming traffic . If these shots come good he certainly earned it . Now it’s the Staples Centre . It has a real docklands type of feel , surrounded by flashing lights and restaurants. In the middle a large Christmas tree and ice rink make it picture perfect.
The Clippers I’m all over them . I was pretty happy with my choice until Lebron signed with the Lakers … shit , I can’t change now . Leroy and Tim are pretty keen on the Warriors , and why wouldn’t you when they’ve almost got the ‘World 5 ‘ starting for them . When captain Tim pilots the course you hang on and follow . We queue jump and get in the venue with at least 30 waiting patiently behind us . Then Tim says ” forget about those tickets Howie ,I’ll get us on the 1st level close to courtside “.
We pick the busiest entry and sneak into prime VIP seats almost on the glass balustrade at the bottom of the 2nd level . By quarter time we are still sitting ,surrounded by plenty of connected types . It’s hard to get comfortable, as I’ve got one eye on security just waiting for them to twig on , and they do . Tim laughs and we just play dumb as we are ejected from the seats . Tim won’t give up . He tells court staff that he and his son (Leroy )
are flying out 1st thing in the morning and it would be a shame to disappoint his sons dream of getting close to Kevin Durant . He pulls it off and we are given seats 15 m on the 1st level . Tim’s loving it and Leroy and I follow like sheep . From here on in its time to suck it all in . Blow this picture up below and we’ve got KD on film
The Clippers lead all day until Clay Thompson goes nuts late and ties it all up . With everyone on their feet a desperate finish sends it into overtime, but it’s my boys day . The Clippers prevail . Thanks Tim , there was never any doubt you’d show us around our town and upgrade us all the way .
Good luck Tim , you’l need it .
I secretly hoped it would happen , only for my entertainment. I had a hunch that he’d be accosted . With Tim fast asleep on the couch and only a walk in fly screen separating him from the outside world ….. it would only be a matter of time . We headed off to soccer whilst Tim slept off the night before . On our return and to my snigger it turns out ole mate had paid Tim a visit .
He just walked straight in and commandeered Tim over to help fix his bike . Tim apparently was awoken by a small dog sniffing at his ear and old ginger Marcus standing there . You can imagine that Tim would’ve been spinning out ; on a friends couch in America , hungover , just him alone waking to this sight in the middle of the day . Welcome to Marcus , Tim. As Tim recounted the events , I nodded my head and Emma rolled her eyes . Later that night it’s all quiet on a balmy still evening as we watch the NFL . From the corner of the eye ole mate and dog returns at the flyscreen . He’s got his nose on the screen as he asks to come in , stepping in before I could really reply . I had previously debated the merit of Australian kids playing NFL as receivers and defenders , with Marcus . I showed him the last 5 minutes of the Grandfinal and he was gobsmacked at how good our guys were at catching the ball. I had previously told him Tim had played Aussie rules at the highest level . He came with a business plan : Tim could scout our best kids and just grab them , I could settle them in the US and Marcus could get them tryouts and contracts . That easy . Of course Marcus doesn’t have any money but with Tim’s help we’l share the profits of this brilliant idea . For the next 3 weeks he’s keen to be included in any of our adventures, he sees opportunity in Tim . He’s jealous when Tim takes Emma , Leroy and myself on an adventure through Palos Verdes and Long Beach . He thinks he should be in Emma’s position or at least invited along for the ride . Emma can’t stand him and it pisses him off no end . She’s in the way of a perfect family , Marcus in , Emma out . Eventually I relent and give Tim’s number to Marcus , knowing that Tim will leave in a week it can’t hurt now . In fact it could be amusing . We’ve ( Marcus ) organised to play golf together . I don’t play but I’m happy to go along . He rang Tim to let him know that he’l have to pay for him as he has no money . Yep. I mention that we are also going to the basketball , 3 of us .”3, “he asks ? “Yeah mate , Leroy is coming “. He mentions that it will be a late night for Leroy and that it’s been so long since he’s been to a game . He’d love to go . I’m thinking , yeah you’d love to go , but no fucking chance . I relay the conversation to Emma . She instructs me that in no way shape or form will Marcus get that ticket , and that it will go to a homeless person 1st. That I agree on . When Tim texts me that he will pick us up at 745 am it dawns on me that I haven’t told him I’m out . Leroy’s got a big day so I’m staying home to look after him . Yeah I’m taking the easy way out . It’s just Tim and Marcus . I sit on the information for 15 mins before I reply , knowing that I’m bailing on him and leaving him to the mercy of ole mate . 4 hours of playing golf with Marcus would send anyone insane . I am laughing to myself as I write this , shit I’d love to have this televised to our place . Sorry Tim , but have fun
shit Tim if you happen to read this in between shots ,don’t show Marcus !
Growing up?
Emma tracks him by phone , I prefer not to . I think it would become a war zone if I start seeing him at locations and at times that I don’t like , sending him messages and then phone calls that would quickly turn into shouting matches . It’s fair to say that Tex doesn’t like my approach ,and I don’t like his reply . When you track his phone to a large shopping centre 15 km away and then find out that he and his friends had Ubered there ,you get an idea of their dare .They caught an Uber at 13 . One of his friends has obtained the app , they obtain a lot of things here .The Bubble has its pros and unfortunately its cons …. exposure . Texs reply to Emma was that she should book an Uber back for them . This maybe the tip of the iceberg . Consider that they got caught vaping at school , one of the vape devices confiscated happened to be a resin pen . Yes , marijuana. We know the kids are trying stuff at this age . You’re probably gonna tell me this happens at home too, but it’s legal here. Not for under 21s , but the availability and the acceptance has opened the door . Kids know it’s normal , but can’t buy it , yet . Texs phone came up on the app revealing his whereabouts at McDonalds at 1215 at night . He was meant to be staying at a friends house with adult supervision . It’s loose here. Then there’s the disregard for money and possession. 1st a skateboard that ‘friends ‘ took from the school enclosure at the end of the day , when Tex had been sent home early for an indiscretion that had me shaking my head . That never came back . As it turned out it was his friends younger brothers new birthday present . $150 venmo’d straight to their account, with embarrassment.I suggested that Tex use his apparent clout and make it show up . It never did , and to boot it was ‘my fault ‘for not going back to the school and getting the skateboard before school finished for the day .He then started riding my beautiful black Electric cruiser ( brand bicycle sort of in the shape of a Harley Davidson ) . I had softened and relented . Stupid , I know . He was soon riding it regularly , even though I saw it coming. You know what happens next . It disappeared after he leant it to a friend . I raged , but no it wasn’t his fault . Again he or his friends will take no blame . The story of its disappearance has changed several times . His friend had apparently left it in the garage of their home where another friend grabbed it in the morning and rode to a swimming pool in another suburb . Nice , he needed to get to waterpolo practice and left it there unlocked . I know the advice isn’t pc but I suggested if Tex thinks he’s the man at school he take action and rectify the problem . He didn’t . A$379 bike of mine ….. gone . Bottom line is the kids here don’t give a fuck , it’s disposable and will always be restocked . All the kids are still good people but it’s the underlying privilege that brings an attitude of disregard that bothers me . Tex is a people pleaser and won’t dare rock the boat to chase up lost possessions, and the undercurrent of embarrassment that comes along with the idea that the money that is needed to replace them is something he won’t relay to his friends . Would this stuff happen back home ? No. Maybe the vaping , late nights and attitude at an older age , but the loss of other people’s possessions would cause a firm rebuke from other adults and friends . You don’t do that with your friends stuff in Mornington , or there will be a price to pay . You’re probably going to ask ;was there a price to pay ? There have been loss of privileges , groundings ect , but it continues . Living in the South Bay of LA brings expectations …..and that creates problems.
Sun sets in the West
There’s definitely a connection to the ocean . Not sure when it started . Might’ve been the earliest of days when we went down to Mills beach as kids . Could’ve been later at primary school when a heap of us would walk or ride down to the pier , hang out and watch the big kids jump off . I remember guys jumping off the pier in their Levi’s , board shorts weren’t cool yet . We’d share an easy goer of Fanta and minimum chips or a couple of bags of ‘blackn white labelled cheese puffs . No sunscreen those days . You built a tan by getting burnt 1st up , after your skin peeled multiple times you had developed a solid base . Skin cancer didn’t exist . The 1st time I ever went off the pier was when I was pushed . The good ole days …. no time to be soft , either jump or be jumped . I was pumped , I’d finally done it … sort of .
Parents didn’t worry much about where you’d been or what major roads you crossed or what type of skylarking you were up to ? As long as you’d get home by dinner. We were doing this at 10 years of age. Now ……?? By high school the cool dudes had begun surfing . They were affiliated with the Peninsula board riders and we knew them as the ‘Mongas ‘ A few years later we were surfing too . The ocean had 3 callings now ; the bay beaches with the pier and the awesome jumping rocks of the pillars ,
Gunnamatta with its powerful open ocean beach breaks and the tranquil beauty of Pt. Leo and it’s gun little Shorey , 1st reef . ( now no longer breaks , the creek doesn’t run and so no more sand bar …. housing ) I thought I’d never know anything else . Later I would daydream about an ocean view . I kept it to myself . It wouldn’t be cheap acquiring a property in Mornington where you could see the bay . After we sold our 2nd home I started flirting with the idea . We hunted the Dava area . There wasn’t views but we were close , only a short walk . That was 2010sh . We didn’t do it , thought we didn’t have the capital . Got that wrong , check the area now . It’s all happening and almost rebuilt . There were a couple of houses along Weber drive that had us interested , and they did have views . It’s a bit of a secret , but this little crest has a lovely westerly aspect , looking straight out onto the bay . Alas it didn’t happen as we moved into Beal place . I thought we’d be there for a short time , but it soon changed once we knew we were in the best little neighbourhood . The ocean view hadn’t been given up , it was just put on the back burner …. some day , maybe when the kids have grown up . Yeah I could see it ; sitting on the deck having a beer or wine ,just staring at the sunset . Looking out to the west ……… yep , someday … …
Whilst looking at these amazing photos it dawned on me …… the dream , the plan .. it’s no more . I’m here , looking out to the west as I’d always hoped , not looking from home , but at home …….. Aus all the way out there .
